Our World

As I ponder on the road I have traveled in my life, I have come to the realization that my path could have been very different if I had listened to my inner spirit. This world we live in can be very harsh and unforgiving and we seem to allow it to control us. We give in to the demands of our lives on the premises that we have to have this to survive. Yet, our ancestors had less than we did and they survived just fine. They did not need the objects of our civilization we have now to exist. This world that belonged to others before us was clean and pure in a sense that the Native Americans who lived here lived off the land. They only used what they needed for survival and used it wisely. They respected the land and each other. A tribe not only consisted of many families but in a sense was a family in itself. The ways of the white world that was brought with the first settlers was only the start of the destruction of this world that was once free of chemicals and pollutions that could kill. The diseases they brought would eventually wipe out all but a few of each tribe in this great nation. Civilization is still wiping out the people of this world. In a off chance that they can better our technology or life itself, they are polluting the atmospheres, the waters, and even the ground itself. The builders are destroying the trees, the wildlife, and the sacred grounds of those before us, all in the name of civilization and money. If I had to choose between living with today's technologies or living off the land with my ancestors, I would choose the Native Americans and living off the land. They respected each other and the world they were given. They deserved better than they got. Civilization is just a word, civilized is just a figment of the word. Life is what you make it, your inner spirit is what is given to you at birth to guide you, whether you listen to it or not , it stays there and eventually you will hear it.
