Where Are My Parents?

We were just playing in the field,
my siblings and I,
Just wrestling in the grass
as the sun gave its warmth.

Mother was watching us,
laying peaceful a few feet away.
Always watching the area for
other strangers who come to prey.

Father was hunting and off
for the long day,
As humans had chased all
the food far away.

They came from all sides,
their scent we could all smell.
Mother was up and alert,
ready to protect us well.

Hunters raised their guns
and shots rang out,
As we watched in horror
our beloved Mother fell.

She whispered her love
and gave us the word,
Run for the trees ,
look for Father for he had to have heard.

Into the trees
where he had went,
We ran and ran
looking or a sign of where he went.

We turned around to check
our backs,
Father was racing toward Mother,
not seeing the guns of another hunter.

Another shot rang out
just as he reached his mate,
He fell down beside her,
and knew his fate.

The pups watched in fear
as the hunter left,
They ventured out of the trees
to where their parents had been left.

Alone in the world
with just each other to now,
No parents to teach them
to hunt or live or prowl.

Where are my parents?
Why do they not speak?
They are here cause that's what I see,
the parents we loved laying at our feet...

Nothing Changes

My plight is as old as the stories from our ancestors... Nothing has changed except the surroundings in the world we must live in. Even though we are all just trying to survive on this big continent and provide for our packs in the same manners, we are labeled as dangerous predators.  We only hunt for food, not trophies for our den walls. We hunt to provide meat for our young and our mates. We do not kill for sport but for survival. We would prefer to roam our lands freely but are chased from them often by developers who build homes and resorts upon our hunting grounds and then call us the intruders. In this way, history continues to repeat itself as we once roamed this land freely with the Native Americans who also lost their homes and lands at one time. Now as people hunt us down and kill us for trying to provide for our families,  we are becoming fewer and soon our spirits will roam and haunt the lands that were once ours to never be removed but to taunt those who done us harm and remind them of the wrong they have done.. They will have to live with the face of shame they will one day see in the mirror for even they will realize that we were here by the grace of God and The Great Spirit for a purpose....

A Wolf's Plight

I see my life as it passes by,
my life but not mine at all.
I live for everyone else to abide,
   and dwell within my soul.
My pack, my loves who live with me,
   are my life support.
My outer pack, who lives around me,
pull me apart it seems for sport.
The woods are my solitude,
the wind in the trees my air.
Moonlight strengthens me,
    and gives me my repair.
I sing at night a silent prayer,
    Great Spirit hear my call.
Lead us from the ways of ill,
and give us a greater home.
One away from those who harm,
a safe haven in a new land.
May they not follow me on my path,
but deal with their own sorrowful hand.

I Am Wolf

I am the wolf, a loner at heart.
You are the human, and will rarely if ever see me.
I roam the wilderness forests and
mountains of this earth that we share.

I mate for survival, as you do
and I help my mate raise our pups in the warmth of our den,
nurturing and watching them grow and play,
as you do with your human young.

We run as a pack family,
and our members are as close as those in yours.
When a member is lost, we grieve, but go on,
just as you do.

When I am hungry, I must hunt for myself and my family,
for that is all I know.
There are no stores to cater to my every need.

Some of you have said that I am a killer,
a cold-blooded hunter of death,
but when I kill, it is to feed my family,
and I only take the old, sick, and weak,
who will die regardless.

I don't kill to hang heads for trophies on my walls,
as you do.
Now I am the hunted, by you.

You are afraid of me, because you don't understand me.
You think I am taking from your herds of plenty,
which you advertise to
big game hunters for their tourist dollars.

Yes, you are afraid of me, but I can't hurt you.
You are the one with the power to destroy my kind.

You set your traps to torture me,
and send your helicopters to kill me from the air.
I cannot fight you, for that is not my way
That is yours.

I only want my freedom
to run, live, and sing to the moon.

I will share this earth with you in peace
as long as you let me.

I am the Wolf

I too feel the sadness every time some new development goes up that never gets completed or some one buys up beautiful land , tears up the trees and wildlife then puts up homes and condos that most can not afford, and then the y get angry when the wildlife come around looking for food... Well, what do you expect them to do? Where are they supposed to go? You've put up fancy ass homes, took down theirs and you want to kill them for roaming the land they have walked for God knows how long! Think before you destroy more of our Mother Earth! There are plenty unfinished developments if you must spend money building something. Don't blame the wolves and our creatures for wanting to keep their freedom, just as we want to keep ours...

Wolves Right to Live!

These beautiful creatures are doing their best to survive i a world that is taking over all their habitats. They struggle for their food, their freedom, much like most of the humans in our country at this time. We are all gifts from God ,The Great Spirit, put here upon this Mother Earth for one reason or another. You may not know that reason or care about it, but the reasons are there just the same. Wolves are just as family oriented as we are. They mate for life, love and protect their young, travel great distances to secure safe homes for their families. Please take heed and help protect these beautiful creatures. If they are moving into an area you do not want them in call the right people to help relocate them to a safer area. Killing them is not the answer.

WOLVES AND US

Wolves are creatures of habit just like we are, or are they? They mate for life, but our divorce rate is rising. They have a leader of their pack who takes care of their pack. He see to their food, shelter, safety, everything they need. Our country is in a shambles because our leader is conflicted with his own beliefs and does not believe in taking care of our citizens first. Most families unfortunately do not have the same values as the wolves either these days because every one is stressing over their own personal well-being instead of the groups. Wolves are struggling for survival because hunters are killing them for their furs or because they are hunting on their property which at one time belonged to the wolves. We need to learn to live together as the wolves do and we need to learn to respect the wolves. They have just as much right as us to live on this earth as we do.
